Pet Licensing

Village Ordinance No. 195-17 requires all dogs & cats to be licensed whether they go outside or not. There is a maximum 3 dogs and/or 3 cats per residence not to exceed 4 total pets.  Just to clarify, 4 of the same species of animals is a violation of Ordinance No. 195-17.   A license cannot be issued if the rabies vaccination are expired.   Receipts, tags, and vaccination records will be mailed to residents.  Please call the office at 715-359-3660 if you no longer have your pet, so the records can be updated. 

Pet licenses are required for all dogs and cats on January 1st of every year regardless of whether or not your pet goes outside. Proof of rabies vaccination with expiration date and proof of spayed or neutered is required at the time of licensing. The license can be obtained in a variety of ways:

  • In person at the Village Hall during business hours or by utilizing the 24/7 dropbox in the main entrance.
  • Mail a payment, along with required documents, to Village of Rothschild, 211 Grand Avenue, Rothschild, WI 54474. A tag will be mailed back to you.
    • Mail a copy of rabies certificate and check to:

      Attn: Pet License
      211 Grand Avenue
      Rothschild, WI 54474

**If your pet has passed away please contact the Village Hall so we can remove you from the listing.

Licensing fees for the 2024 licensing year are: 
Spayed or Neutered Dogs: $10.00
Non Altered Dog: $15.00
Spayed or Neutered Cats: $5.00
Non Altered Cats: $15.00
Puppies/Kittens (5 months and younger): $7.50

Renewals after April 1, 2024 are subject to a penalty and/or a possible citation.
