DPW Truck Driver/Laborer – Village of Rothschild, WI (pop. 5,384) seeks a semi-skilled position involving knowledge of the fundamentals of single and tandem axle truck driving requiring a WI CDL, fundamentals of snow removal, and the operation of a variety of other Village owned equipment and heavy manual labor. The individual is responsible for performing a variety of work with a high degree of skill associated with the operation of single and tandem trucks under a variety of conditions and performing snow removal operations with a front mounted plow with a wing. This position also includes performing work of a heavy, manual nature, which may or may not require a high degree of manipulative skill or previous experience. Work is subject to supervision and instructions are frequently given at the beginning of each new task and under the immediate direction of an employee of higher grade.
Duties include snowplow, salting, brining, and sanding using single and tandem axle trucks, shoveling, raking, landscaping, planting, sweeping, and other manual tasks, general maintenance/repairs of utilities as directed, efficient operation of lawn equipment for mowing and other light equipment for clearing snow from sidewalks, hand tools and small power tools, etc. The individual shall possess and demonstrate the ability and attitude interact and work with coworkers and the public in a polite and respectful manner daily, and correct equipment operation and use. Work conditions vary and may sometimes be for extended periods in unfavorable weather conditions. Candidate must be a team player able to undertake assigned tasks in a respectful, safe, efficient manner.
Qualifications: High school graduate; ability to lift a minimum of safely and repetitively 60 lbs., possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (C.D.L.) issued by the State of Wisconsin.
